I highly recommend this to all my falconer friends, this medication is life changing for falconers. I always recommend a vet when birds are critical, but vets are not always available. Avian vets don’t always work weekend, and not daily either. Sometimes the are to busy to get you in and the bird needs it ASAP. This medication can be the difference between life and death. Falcons and hawks are exposed to many diseases as they are carnivores. Tragically some bacteria and virus’s rapidly cause sepsis and acute hepatitis, often killing the birds within 12-48 hours. The few exotic avian vets we can trust our birds to can’t always see us fast enough, and emergency vets are more likely to kill our birds than help. All we can do is can ask for sub Q fluids and B vitamin shots. But sometimes the birds go downhill so quick there is no way to save them even with this medication.

After speaking to my vet we decided the best course with this medication is to first give double the dose of your bird at the first sign of severe disease. Then follow instructions on label after first dose. Also very important whenever treating with antibiotics also treat for aspergillosis once the bird is more stable, birds of prey on antibiotics are at higher risk to asper infection.

Ultimately this medication should always be kept on hand, for fighting acute infection and fighting off secondary infections for birds with a virus
